| The
City of Carpinteria has a number of programs to prevent
pollution. In 1999, the
City of Carpinteria expanded its oil recycling facility to
antifreeze, batteries, oil and paint (ABOP).
The items accepted
at this facility include: latex paint, household batteries, six
and twelve volt batteries, used motor oil, oil filters, and
antifreeze. The ABOP facility is part of the City of Carpinteria
and County of Santa Barbara efforts to reduce the risk of
hazardous waste in the trash and in the environment. The
facility is also part of Carpinteria's efforts to meet the
requirements of the California Integrated Waste Management Act
of 1989.
The ABOP facility, located at 5775
Carpinteria Ave, is open for drop-offs the 2nd and 4th Saturdays
of every month, from 10 to 2 (this facility will be
open only the 2nd Saturday of the month in November and
December, 2006).
Used oil can be taken to the same location,
5775 Carpinteria, Monday through Friday, 8:00-3:30.
On this site, see: waste
disposal, chemicals
and batteries, and your trash.
